When to call

6 automatic door emergencies we attend

A faulty automatic door is more than an inconvenience. It can leave a building insecure overnight, block an accessible entrance or put people at risk. Call our emergency line if any of these apply.

Door stuck open

An entrance that will not close or lock leaves your building open to theft and the weather, often at closing time or overnight.

Door stuck shut

Customers, patients, staff or residents cannot get in or out, and an accessible entrance may be out of use.

Unsafe or erratic door

A door closing too fast, not reversing when it touches someone, or moving on its own is a trapping and impact risk.

Impact damage

Doors hit by a vehicle, trolley, pallet truck or bed can leave leaves off their tracks, glass damaged and the operator unsafe.

Locking failure

Electric locks, night locks or access control not releasing or not securing the door at the end of the day.

No power or failed restart

Doors that will not run after a power cut, an electrical fault or a tripped supply, including battery back-up problems.

What happens when you call

Emergency automatic door repair in 4 steps

You call us

Ring 01708 864176. Tell us the address, the door type, the make if you know it and what the door is doing.

Engineer dispatched

We send the nearest available engineer from our own team, not a subcontractor.

Door made safe

The first job is to make the entrance safe and secure, whether that means a repair on the spot or securing the door until parts arrive.

Repair and report

We complete the repair or give you a clear quotation, then explain what failed and how to stop it happening again.

What to tell us when you call

  • The address and how to get to the door, including site contact and parking or access notes.
  • The door type: sliding, swing or telescopic, single or double.
  • The make if you can see it on the operator cover or control unit, for example RECORD, GEZE, DORMA, TORMAX, ASSA ABLOY or HORTON.
  • What the door is doing: stuck open, stuck shut, moving erratically, noisy, or showing an error code.
  • What happened just before it failed, such as an impact, a power cut, or work in the building.
  • A photo or short video if you can send one safely. It helps the engineer bring the right parts.

Stay safe

Until our engineer arrives

If anyone could be trapped or hit by the door, keep people away and switch the operator off or to manual on its programme switch. Do not force the door leaves or open the operator cover, as it contains mains power and moving parts.
  • Check the floor track and sensors are clear of mats, bags, boxes and cleaning equipment.
  • If the door is stuck open and you need to secure the building, use a secondary door if you have one, or keep the entrance staffed until we arrive.
  • If the door is a fire exit or escape route, follow your building’s fire procedures and tell us when you call.

Fewer emergencies

Stop the next breakdown before it happens

Many emergency call-outs are caused by wear that a planned service would have picked up: stretched belts, worn rollers, dirty or misaligned sensors and tired batteries. Our planned maintenance contracts include scheduled visits, safety checks to BS EN 16005 and a written report for every door, and the higher plans include reactive call-outs.

Regular maintenance is also a legal duty for most workplaces: the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 require workplace equipment to be maintained, and powered doors to have safety features that stop people being trapped.

New installations come with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty, extended to 3 years with a maintenance contract.
