Automatic Door Maintenance Contracts: What to Look For

A planned maintenance contract keeps automatic doors safe, reliable and compliant. But contracts vary, so it pays to know what to look for.
What a good contract should include
- Scheduled visits: a clear number of servicing visits per year, matched to how busy each door is.
- Safety checks: inspection of sensors, safety devices and emergency behaviour.
- Emergency call-out: how to reach an engineer out of hours and what response to expect.
- Parts and labour: what is included and what is charged separately.
- Written records: a report after each visit for every door.
- Qualified engineers: trained staff who know your door types.
Questions to ask a provider
- Are your engineers directly employed and trained on my door brands?
- How do you handle emergency repairs and what response should I expect?
- What exactly is covered in each visit?
- How do you report on the condition of each door?
- Can you look after several sites with one schedule?
Single site or multi-site
For one building, a straightforward annual or twice-yearly plan is often enough. For multi-site estates, such as shops, schools or offices, a single provider with one schedule and one set of records makes management much easier.
Check the safety side too
Make sure the contract includes safety checks, not just a quick lubricate and clean. Our guide to BS EN 16005 explains the safety standard behind this.

Extending your warranty
Doors installed by Euro Automatic Doors carry a standard 12-month warranty. If you take out a planned maintenance contract with us, we can extend the warranty to 3 or 4 years, so regular servicing protects both safety and your investment. The warranty depends on the door being used and maintained as described and does not cover misuse, impact damage or unauthorised alterations.
